What is the beautiful tree?

So, I have this beautiful blooming tree in my front yard and I have not idea what it is... anyone know? I would greatly appreciate it because I would love to know how long it will bloom and if it needs any special care. I absolutely adore the vibrant flowers!!!

This is me playing with my camera! Gosh, I just love it!

A little focus here, a little focus there!

I'd say it is about 20 feet tall...maybe taller...I don't think it is any shorter...Awesome description, eh?

I promise to write more in the next few days!

much love.

Delightful Digs

Delightful Digs was a delightful find on this wonderful Virginia Beach afternoon. The day started off with a kiss from my sweetie and progressed to fried eggs and the ever needed coffee! Ryan had his GMATs today and I attended my first yoga class! Thighs are burning the most glorious burn!

The afternoon continued with a little craigslist shopping and after a few phone calls of I'll be there in 15 minutes... I have to run out for a few minutes, but grab a drink and I'll be back... led us to this wonderful store, Delightful Digs!

It was fun playing with my camera! I loved the cupcake plate in the background!

And the above was Ryan's favorite wall hanging!
"My most brilliant achievement...was my ability to be able to persuade my wife to marry me." - Winston Churchill
A day in Virginia Beach isn't complete without some F/A-18 action from above!

This one was taken through the sunroof of the truck! Perfect timing!

And I love me some jet streams in the sky!

Oh and for the purpose of this delightful trip...

We are proud owners of a push lawn mower! We got this bad boy for $40 from a true southern boy, you know the kind that gives you a warranty through the first use and wants to know your life story, yeah, that kind! It was entertaining to say the least! I, being the northerner that I am, am actually starting to warm up to slooooowwer speaking people. It's a challenge, but it's happening. Oh and by no means does that insinuate that I am speaking any slower myself...because I'm not and if I start to, someone better slap me!

God, I love a working man! ...and pickup trucks!

Dinner is calling...

Much love.

Belated Anniversary Celebration!

Over a year ago, I married this Sweetie Pie and in honor of his "Pie-ness" I made him his favorite Onion Pie!!

It is a secret family recipe, so don't even think about asking for it! :) It was a gift to me at my bridal shower from Ryan's grandmother and I promise to treasure it forever! It's yummy and it makes for one happy hunny!

An anniversary dinner cannot be complete without a toast to the lovely couple! We broke out our lovely Vera Wang "Love" champagne glasses and had a little Spumante, actually, we drank the entire bottle and it was glorious!

In keeping with tradition, we defrosted our year old cake topper and prayed for the best. We have heard our share of horror stories of cakes having that horrible freezer burn taste and the good old the initial taste was good, but the after taste was horrible... Needless to say, we were a little skeptical...

It was good! We actually each had a few bites! Who knew the power of a little saran wrap and a zip lock bag! Apparently there is a little thing called Freezer Paper that this bride had no clue about. Actually, the real props go to my wonderful Mom because she is the wrapped of the cake top! We were too busy on our honeymoon to think twice about a cake topper!

By the way, it was a glorious pound cake with butter cream icing! Simple, but oh so delicious!

Happy One Year Wedding Anniversary Darling!

The best gift was having you home and celebrating together in our very own home! After a year of homelessness, it was beyond perfect!

Much love.

I Heart Fireplaces!

There is no place more delightful than one's own fireplace...
Quote by Marcus Tullius Cicero

While there are many places that are much more delightful than one's own fireplace, there is something extra special about one's own fireplace! Visions of chilly winter nights sitting cross-legged in footie pajamas in front of a crackling fire and a big ol' mug of hot cocoa in hand are dancing in my head...

While no fire is burning, this is our fireplace in the making! There is a TV mount on the wall that I couldn't get off, so I worked with it and decorated all around it! Notice the artwork by little Jared, the photo on the left that my wonderful friend Chloe took for me when I moved to California, and the record player and records that my best friend gave us for our wedding! Shout out to Led Zeppelin and Johnny Cash!

Here is an close-up of my amazing record player, pretty orchid (I love love love orchids), and our sweet little boy!

And a close-up of the mantle! Talk about adding personality to a home on a budget! Books, records, vases, pictures, candles, and the list goes on!

Gotta run! The laundry is calling my name!

Much love.

Green, White & Blue!

I didn't have much say in the color of our kitchen because silly me forgot to register dish towels, pot holders, and basically anything that was a color aside from silver, clear, black or brown. Thankfully, my Aunt Johnnie realized that and got me some wonderful blue and white towels, washcloths, and pot holders! White is wonderful because it brightens up a rather dark and dull kitchen! Oh and it is crisp and clean looking, which I adore! Blue is wonderful because it is Ryan's favorite color and because it doesn't scream GIRL! And...to add some spice and my favorite color, I added a splash of green with my stunning and oh so desired teapot!

Isn't she pretty? To be completely honest, I had my eye on a much smaller, not so metallic teapot, but it had a very sad price tag of $30 and I just wasn't having that, so I went with this spunky little thing for a whopping $10!
N.B. I have already gotten my money's worth! There is nothing like a hot cup o' tea to warm me up when my honey isn't around! :)

Here is another taste of my Green, Blue and White! I have green and white polka dot dish towels too! Ryan has yet to see them! hehe!

A BIG, HUGE thanks to my hubby for putting together this unit! I had no idea where to begin with all the metal rods that were lacking instructions, only to find out that it was a mixture of two different shelving units. Thank God because I was feeling a little helpless. I pride myself on being pretty handy for a gal and was feeling like a dud. Since our kitchen is really, and I mean really small, this shelving unit was a God-send! It now holds all of our cherished cookbooks, some extra wine glasses (we have red wine glasses, white wine glasses, stemless glasses, huge wine glasses, martini glasses, champagne glasses and the ever cherished pint glasses), our bread maker, our electric frying pan (Thanks Mom & Dad!), and our brand spankin new microwave! This lovely little place didn't come with a microwave and neither Ryan or I owned one, so we took our Christmas Target giftcard (Thanks Mom & Mike!) and bought ourselves one!

It's still a work in progress, but it sure is feeling much more homey!
Sorry I have been MIA lately. I am currently in the midst of midterms; balancing school and my personal life is not the easiest, but it sure is worth it! I am head over heals in love with my husband and thrilled that he is home. Oh and I am really starting to enjoy Economics! I know, you think I have to be crazy for the latter. So be it! I am one lucky gal!
Much love.
