Halfway to 50

Now that I am 25...
...a quarter of a century...
or the best...halfway to 50 (courtesy of my little brother)...

I am feeling like I am officially old enough to be married, have a house and start having babies! I don't know what it is about twenty-five, but it sounds a heck of a lot more mature than 24! I have successfully completed the married part with flying colors...10 months! Woot Woot! But the babies and owning a house...yea they are going to have to wait until after graduate school and the navy.
So turning 25...it was pretty amazing! I was thrown a surprise Mexican themed birthday party complete with homemade buttercream cupcakes, the sweetest of new found friends and a wonderful shot of tequila...eek!

GREEN Buttercream cupcakes! Yum!

The Surprisers!!

The Oh So Classy Bathroom Group Shot! :)

The Amazing Party Planner! It was my first surprise party ever!!

Thanks Sweetie!

Keeping it classy! It was the worst shot ever

Every now and then a girl needs to have some fun, toss the books to the side, have a few drinks and dance! That is exactly what happened and I was happy!
And a little belated birthday love...

I GOT A CAMERA!
My husband is the best! Eeek! I love it!

All Smiles & Sassiness!

Much love.

Exuding Happiness

I have one purpose in writing this blog and that is...

to let the world know that I am the luckiest girl in the entire world!!!!

I just received 23 letters in the mail from my amazing husband and have only read two, but am beaming from ear to ear! Ryan has such an amazing sense of humor and knows how to make me smile and laugh from thousands of miles away! I love him so much!

The end.

Much love.

Random...

Life.Has.Been.Busy...Extremely busy. Actually, graduate school has been insane and consuming my life with midterms and homeworks and several hours of class time. To be more precise, Mathematical Economics, Advanced Microeconomics, MBA Macroeconomics and Econometrics I, have been ruling my life. I am proud, and relieved, to say that I have successfully completed my first round of graduate level midterms. God help me.

To honor the lack of studying in my day today, I did laundry, lost of laundry, and I stocked my pantry so I no longer have to eat popcorn and peanut butter from a jar for lunch and dinner. This weekend will be chock full of dinner dates with girlfriends, the viewing of Enchanted...the best movie ever! and some Christmas shopping! Yes, I have my list and I'll be checking it twice...were you naughty or nice?!?! *wink*wink*

Since the last time I blogged, a great deal has changed. For one I am about three pounds lighter and 20 pounds weaker. This whole midterm thing did a number on my workout schedule, so while my scale and those super skinny jeans are currently my friends, the boxes in the storage unit and my medicine ball workout can go eat eh dirt...

Okay, so back to basics, I started my very own mini business in the midst of midterms that I am oh so proud of! It is something that I have been meaning to do for a long time, but didn't know the right approach or just made excuses, so when I was pushed to end's whit while studying, I realized that I had allowed economics to delete all creativity from my life (not that derivations, long term vs short term effects on supply and demand and Cobb Douglas aren't "creative"...they just aren't my kind of creative!) Well, a life without creativity isn't worth living...for me...so I put my foot down, pulled out my ribbons, buttons, sewing thread, and handy dandy measuring tape and went to town!!! Ladies and gentlemen, with greatest pleasure, I present to you Betty's Baby Bowtique!

Since this is a random blog of my life, a few weekends ago, probably more than a few, but then what is a few...three to five?? I think it fits into that category... Okay, a few weekends ago, I reupholstered two old eagle claw feet chairs that I got for FREE! Yes, I said F.R.E.E.!!! Talk about being thrifty and hitting up Labor Day Weekend yard sales right before closing...you know when people want nothing more than to get rid of their items and are over standing out in the heat dealing with hagglers??? Yea, that's when I pulled up and inquired about the chairs that were completely seatless I may add. So, off I drove with two chairs and some other odds and ends that I got for pennies. A few weeks after acquiring them is when I decided to polish them and make them mine! Here is a glimpse of my chairs!

To be completely honest, I hate the blue seated fabric now that it is on the chair, but I love it for pillows...It clashes with the vision I have for the room in the house that we have yet to inhabit. On the other hand, I love the poppy fabric!

Instructions to reupholster cushions on a dime:

1. Find fabric you love (hardest part of the entire process)

2. Get a staple gun and staples

3. Cut plywood to fit the seat of your chair, but be sure to leave a little space for fabric

4. Cut foam (I used 3 layers of mattress foam padding because purchasing thick foam is expensive)

5. Place the foam on the plywood and lay the fabric on top

6. Staple the fabric to the bottom of one side and pull the opposite side tight and staple. Repeat the process for the other two sides.

Much love.
